Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment that involves breathing oxygen in a pressurized chamber to enhance the body’s natural healing process.

Hyperbaric pressure is between 1.1 and 3 times greater than normal air pressure, which increases the availability and flow of oxygen in the body at the cellular level.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves relaxing in a pressurized environment filled with oxygen. Through the process, the increased pressure allows oxygen to dissolve and saturate the blood plasma, helping to promote the growth of new blood vessels, reduce inflammation, and enhance the production of white blood cells which kill bacteria.

When HBOT chambers are used for indications cleared by the FDA, HBOT is generally safe, and serious complications are rare.

Because of the increased pressure and increased concentration of the oxygen during HBOT, potential risks include:

Ear and sinus pain

Middle ear injuries, including tympanic membrane rupture

Temporary vision changes

Lung collapse (rare)

High concentrations of oxygen also pose the risk of fire, which is one reason why the FDA recommends treatment at an accredited facility.  Explosions and fires have occurred in HBOT chambers that have not been reviewed by the FDA and are located at unaccredited facilities.

The most common complication after HBOT is trauma to the middle ear. Other possible complications are eye damage, lung collapse, low blood sugar, and sinus problems. In rare, severe cases, a person can get oxygen poisoning. This can lead to seizures, fluid in the lungs, lung failure, or other problems. Considering the possible risks and benefits, the decision to use hyperbaric oxygen therapy must be carefully made after a discussion with your healthcare provider.

Although these risks and precautions indicated are pretty extreme, our qualified, trained, and experienced HBOT operators will do our best to ensure none of the above occurs.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is not for everyone. It shouldn’t be used by people who have had a recent ear surgery or injury, a cold or fever, or certain types of lung disease.

If you’re considering hyperbaric oxygen therapy, be sure to talk to your doctor first. It’s essential to ensure that it’s safe for you and that you understand the risks.

Targeted Cryotherapy

The Kaasen™ is unique in its ability to rapidly deliver localized ice and compression. The Kaasen device is a hand-held targeted cryotherapy device which uses carbon dioxide (CO₂) in the form of a cold spray onto the surface of the skin. The instant cooling and pressure applied to the skin produces a localized cold shock effect. The Kaasen cools targeted areas of the body to 39°F using carbon dioxide to stimulate a natural body response. This is called thermal shock.

The Kaasen uses food grade carbon dioxide, which is safe and effective for targeted treatments. Kaasen has dual temperature sensors, a cold shock indicator light, a treatment timer, and an intelligent proximity sensor to ensure the optimal treatment every time.

Cryotherapy is the rapid cooling of the skin and underlying tissues to 39°F under pressure, to induce cold shock. Cold shock produces a favorable biological response from the body to the cold temperature. The body’s response to rapid cooling causes: An immediate increase in the flow of oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to the area. An increase in hormones scubas norepinephrine and neurotransmitters such as beta-dopamine. And improved lymphatic drainage, promoting a localized removal of toxins and dead fat cells. The constriction of vessels and muscles slows the blood flow and forces the immune and hormonal systems to respond. Immediately the blood
vessels dilate to around four times their usual size. This floods the area with blood, which is rich in oxygen, hormones, nutrients and activated enzymes. This is when the healing process has begun and is considered  cryostimulation.

The term ‘cryo-stimulation’ literally means ‘stimulation using low temperature’ (“Cryo” from the Latinized form of Greek, “kryos” for “icy cold” + “stimulation” – encouragement of something to make it develop or become more active) and is used as a modality to stimulate a beneficial physiological response from the body.

Our Kaasen device uses the cooling power of carbon dioxide (CO₂) – the same as the contents of the fire extinguishers seen on office and clinic walls. The CO₂ is in liquid form in the cylinder and, as it leaves, expands and cools to a very chilly -108°F, providing a stream of cooling vapor which is applied to the skin.

The technology allows a localized area of skin (the abdomen, a thigh, shoulder etc.) to be cooled quickly from around 95°F to 39°F in less than 30 seconds, using a targeted spray of cold vapor. This temperature shock causes blood vessels in the underlying tissue to constrict (vasoconstriction) as a way of protecting the body’s core temperature.

As soon as the cold source is removed, the body warms the area quickly by expanding the blood vessels to around 4 times their original diameter (vasodilation). A rush of freshly oxygenated blood saturates the tissue, bringing with it hormones, neurotransmitters, and nutrients. At the same time, unwanted by-products and waste produced from natural body processes are removed from the area to be processed by the lymphatic system.

The effect is for the localized tissue to receive all it needs to rejuvenate and restore its optimal functions:
Injured muscle tissue is relieved of inflammation (at the optimum time as some inflammation is useful in the healing process) and fed with all the goodness and nutrients they need to recover faster.

Aging and thinning skin is able to repair the basal cell layer to restore the supply of collagen, elastin and hydration to regain a smoother, tighter appearance. Fat tissue breaks down and is eliminated from the body, while other surrounding tissues are not damaged.

– Pain Relief

In reaction to the extreme cold, hormones such as adrenaline and B-endorphins are released which are powerful natural pain killers. This provides immediate pain relief.

– Reduced Inflammation

Stimulates immediate improvement in blood flow and lymphatic drainage. Promotes a reduction in swelling and soreness immediately. Has the potential to enhance skin health, improving the appearance of conditions like acne and eczema.

– Muscle Relaxation

Reduced Inflammation relieves muscle tension, which increases the range of movement and allows faster rehabilitation.

– Improved Performance

Regular Cryotherapy can help to increase stamina and endurance whilst reducing muscle fatigue and soreness.

-Boost Energy Levels

The cold temperatures cause the body to work harder to maintain its core temperature, resulting in an increased heart rate and improved
circulation. As a result, many people felt more alert and energized after a cryotherapy session.

There is not a specific answer to this question because the frequency of localized cryotherapy treatments may vary based on the needs and objectives of the individual. However, most people who receive cryotherapy treatments do so on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. It is recommended to complete a session every 3-7 days for body slimming or contouring.

For pain management and pain prevention, it is recommended to complete a session immediately following high intensity physical activity or training.  The recommendation to target inflammation is 1-3 days initially for pain management and taper off to weekly as needed. Some people may need more frequent treatments initially and then taper off to a less regular schedule as their condition improves.

Treatments may not be fully successful. Each person’s body reacts differently to the cold stimulus and some may require more time, consistency, and other modalities of treatment to assist with achieving desired results.

If you’re considering cryotherapy, be sure to talk to your doctor first. It’s essential to ensure that it’s safe for you and that you understand the risks.

LED Light Therapy

Light therapy, also known as phototherapy or low-level light therapy, is the application of specific wavelengths of light energy to tissue to obtain therapeutic benefits for a variety of conditions including skin, pain and hair restoration.

The absorbed energy is then used to improve cellular performance. Light therapy can be delivered through light emitting diode (LEDs) devices or cold LASERs, and has a variety of applications across many medical fields. This clinically validated technique is gaining greater and greater acceptance in mainstream medicine by dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons as a non-invasive therapeutic modality for the treatment and healing of skin and wound conditions and by pain professionals for pain relief.

Phototherapy, or LED red light therapy, has been widely researched and is supported by thousands of peer-reviewed and published clinical research papers from prestigious institutions around the world. Other terms by which light therapy is referred to are photobiostimulation, photobiomodulation, photomedicine, LED light therapy, low-level light therapy (LLLT), red light therapy, cold and soft LASER therapy. All terms are correct, have the same meaning and are used to describe the delivery of light energy to treat a variety of medical and cosmetic conditions.

LED light therapy treatments are non-invasive, painless, require no recovery time, and can be used safely on all skin types.

  • Mild to moderate acne vulgaris
  • Superficial, benign vascular and pigmented lesions
  • Periorbital wrinkles and rhytides
  • Sub-optimal local blood flow and circulation
  • Joint Aches and Minor muscle
  • Minor muscle and joint pain
  • Pain and stiffness associated with arthritis
  • Muscle spasms and Minor arthritis
  • Shoulder pain of a musculoskeletal origin and minor chronic neck

LED devices are considered extremely low risk when used as intended.

No. Our light therapy utilizes a combination of blue, red, and near-infrared light emitting diodes (LEDs) only.

Many makeup formulas contain minerals that may deflect light. Clean, freshly washed skin is recommended for best results. You may apply makeup and resume all normal activities immediately following use.

Light therapy should NOT be used in the following conditions:

• Infants or children under 12
• Over the stomach of a pregnant person.
• Over the breast of a breast-feeding person.
• If the individual has epilepsy or a history of seizures.
• While taking cortisone injections or any other kind of steroid injections.
• While using photosensitive drugs.
• Over known cancer tumor or metastasis.

Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy is a safe, effective treatment for harmful inflammation. While inflammation is a part of the body’s natural immune response, prolonged inflammation from an injury, environmental factors, or chronic diseases like arthritis can cause permanent damage to the body.

You will be in a private treatment room and a specialist will orientate you, offer soft music, and provided our recommended eyewear. You may fully disrobe during your session so as to have the maximum skin exposure to the therapeutic light waves. When your session is complete the lights will turn off and it will be time to get dressed and return to the front desk in order to reserve your next session.

Red Light Therapy helps reduce inflammation throughout the body by stimulating the body’s natural healing processes to remedy inflammation and repair damage. Red Light Therapy is proven to:

● Increase collagen production, improving skin elasticity and appearance
● Relieve muscle soreness and minor joint pain
● Regulate the synthesis of free radicals and reduce the effects of oxidative stress.
● Promotes whole body wellness by enhancing the body’s natural processes for healing.
● This therapy is safe, easy, and most individuals experience no adverse side effects.

No. Our light therapy utilizes a combination of blue, red, and near-infrared light emitting diodes (LEDs) only.

Compression

Compression therapy could be used prior to or after a routine workout, sports training or high-level competition. It could be used on a daily basis, but 1-2 times/week is beneficial for enhancing recovery. It is also great to do after a long day of sitting, standing or walking to improve circulation.

Sound Therapy

Vibroacoustic therapy influences the body by passing pure low frequency sine wave vibrations between 30 to 120 Hz into the body. The Food and Drug Administration has approved vibroacoustic therapy for increasing circulation, pain relief, and increasing mobility. Vibroacoustic therapy is being evaluated to treat a number of conditions including fibromyalgia, cerebral palsy, and Alzheimers.

*Vibroacoustic therapy may not be recommended for some conditions. Please consult with your medical professional.

SoundBed™ will provide substantial healing benefits even to someone who is hearing impaired. There are two main elements to Immersive SoundHealing™ provided by the bed 1) spatial sound and 2) spatial vibration.

The spatial sound (what you hear through your headphones) will of course be affected. Yet the spatial vibration (what you FEEL throughout your body through low-frequency vibration) will be just as powerful–helping your mind and body drop out of stress response, enter a deep meditative state, and return to natural harmony.

From OPUS’s research, they have the capacity to “hear” vibration through every cell of our bodies, not just our ears, so since SoundBed™ plays journeys to the entire body, they will retain much of their healing benefits. And while many of our journeys will also include spoken guidance from expert guides, the vibration itself has already been proven through vibroacoustic therapy to be highly effective in helping improve both physical and emotional wellbeing.

SoundBed™ is generally safe for children to use, though if they have a serious medical condition we suggest consulting your doctor before use. OPUS counted children ages 6 to 11 among their 3,000+ beta testers and children tend to enjoy the experience as much as adults. As an appropriate description of her child after the experience, one mom referred to her daughter as “her little zen baby.”
